beautiful people ~ ryan dunn

ryan dunn.  not somebody you would expect to make a beautiful people blog post.  since i first saw him on jackass all those years ago, he has been my favourite.  i have a type of guy that i like.  bearded, scruffy, tattooed, a little wild, he ticked all of those boxes.  i loved his aviator sunglasses.  best of all he, along with the rest of the jackass boys, made me laugh like crazy.  sure, he may have been crazy, rude, foul-mouthed, risky with his life but he was still a beautiful person to me.  i was so happy when i was at a music festival in baltimore, md and ryan, bam, steve-o and uncle don vito from jackass were there and  i was shocked and saddened to hear that he passed away early this morning in a car accident, aged 34.  jackass will never be the same.  rip ryan ♥

beautiful people ~ gwyneth paltrow

ok, i must admit, i was never really a fan of gwyneth in the past.  i couldn’t bear the gwyneth/brad pitt combo and it wasn’t until i saw her indie movie, proof, that i began to appreciate her talent in acting.  now, i think she’s great.  she’s age-defyingly beautiful, her body is amazing, she cooks (i bought her new cookbook the other day and was pleasantly surprised by it), she blogs on goop.com and she inspired her husband, chris martin, to write one of my favourite songs of all time, fix you.  other than that, i’m gonna let the photos speak for themselves…

beautiful people ~ cher

this is a lady i have been inspired by pretty much my whole life.  first, i grew up listening to my parents play her music and second, as a young teen i saw the movie ‘mermaids’ and to this day it is one of my absolute favourites.  she really needs no introduction so here are some photos i love of cher.

beautiful people ~ michelle williams

michelle williams is high up on my beautiful people list.  she has been a part of my life since i was a teen watching her play wild-child jen lindley in dawson’s creek.  jen was my favourite character, i’m always drawn to the rebels.  she has since become a pretty incredible movie actress and a mother to matilda, her daughter with the late heath ledger.  what i love most about michelle is that you will never see her selling out with magazine interviews or showing up on any old red carpet to get attention.  she keeps her private life private, or tries to anyway, and i get the impression that she views acting as a job not a lifestyle and she takes most pride in her daughter.  when heath sadly passed away in 2008, michelle acted with nothing but dignity and this is why i think she’s pretty awesome.

i’m very much looking forward to seeing this movie starring michelle and the beautiful ryan gosling.

beautiful people ~ nicole richie

i love nicole richie.  i know some people can’t get past the image she had as ‘paris hilton’s sidekick’, the eating disroder rumours, the dui, her time in rehab, but i think she is amazing and i’ll tell you why.  i think it has been well documented that nicole spent time in rehab for heroin problems back in the day but from that time until now she has completely turned her life around.  she has settled down with joel madden from good charlotte and had two beautiful kiddos, harlow winter kate and sparrow midnight james.  she is a devoted mother and partner to joel.  she has become a businesswoman with her own beautiful accessories line, house of harlow 1960 and clothing line, winter kate, both named after her daughter.  what i admire about nicole is that she keeps herself to herself.  she seems to have a close-knit group of friends and she tends to keep out of the limelight more than she did in the past.  she has set up the richie-madden children’s foundation with joel, a charity to help under privileged kids.  lastly, you can’t deny the girl has style, and as i’m a huge lover of 60s and 70s fashion and boho style, she is one of my style crushes.  the girl has lionel ‘L-Train’ richie as a dad, what’s not to love? :)  here are some of my favourite photos of nicole.

i love the boho styling in this photo.

love this photo. she does headscarves and oversized sunglasses to perfection.

beautiful family photo. nicole with joel and little harlow.

adorable photo of nicole and her little man sparrow in paris.
i love her hat and sunglasses.

beautiful people ~ brigitte bardot

some women admire audrey hepburn, some marilyn monroe, but for me it has always been brigitte bardot.  the teased hair, the smoky eyes, the pout, the quirky gappy teeth, the figure,  the french accent, the style….beautiful.  these are some of my favourite photos of her…

this last photo with the fawn is my favourite.

beautiful people ~ stevie nicks

i was pretty much brought up on fleetwood mac music.  my dad was and is a fan and some of my earliest memories are of car journeys where stevie nicks’ voice was coming out of the car stereo.  nowadays, my dad and i have don’t have too much in common when it comes to music but we will always share a love of fleetwood mac and the travelling wilburys.  for those who don’t know who stevie nicks is, she is member of  the band fleetwood mac and has had an extensive solo career.  the reason i love stevie is simple.  she is beautiful, she writes amazing poetry, her voice is incredible and above all else, i love her style. she dresses part dickensian with top hats and boots and part boho/gypsy with floaty dresses, scarves and shawls. i was lucky enough to see fleetwood mac live last year and i was amazed how good she still looks and how well she can belt out those songs at 62. if you’ve never heard her sing, please listen to gypsy, sara, rhiannon, landslide and seven wonders all by fleetwood mac and if you don’t like her then there’s something wrong with you! :)

“personally, i think that sexy is keeping yourself mysterious.”

Beautiful People ~ Vanessa Paradis

I am pretty crazy about Paris and French style and I have this lady to thank for it.  I was 7 when Vanessa Paradis released her first single Joe Le Taxi in the UK.  I didn’t understand any words of the french sung song apart from the title words but I loved it.  I used to watch Top Of  The Pops and I recorded the video for this song and watched it over and over.  I wanted to be French so bad. I still like it a lot and I still want to be French a LOT.  I have these daydreams about riding a vintage bicycle through Paris with a breton stripe top on and sitting outside a cafe with a smoking a cigarette (it’s Paris, smoking is cool there!!) and eating a croissant!   I think Vanessa Paradis is one of the most beautiful women in the world and I think Johnny Depp is a very lucky man to have her by his side.  She is now not only a singer but also an actress (I’m excited to see her movie Heartbreaker next week) and model who is adored by none other than Karl Lagerfeld.  She has been used in a few Chanel campaigns, most memorably dressed in black and sitting on a swing inside a birdcage for Coco perfume.  On top of this, she is also a mama to Lily-Rose and Jack, her children with Johnny.  I was obsessed with Johnny Depp throughout my teens and I definitely think if I can’t be Mrs Depp, then I’m glad he has someone as cool as Vanessa.

Beautiful People ~ Kurt and Courtney

I am going through a Kurt Cobain/Courtney Love/Nirvana/Hole phase right now.  For some reason I am very into the 90s at the moment, watching classic 90s movies like Wayne’s World, California Man, Empire Records, Reality Bites and I’m getting a bit grungey.  To be honest, I wasn’t that into grunge the first time around.  I liked some Nirvana and Soundgarden stuff but I wouldn’t say I was that into the scene.  I always did have a bit of a crush on Kurt Cobain though.  He was beautiful, talented, troubled and such an enigma. I always thought Kurt and his wife, Courtney Love were one of the coolest couples.  There is something about rockstar couples that totally intrigues me.  They seemed so in love and they both had their own quirky style.  I don’t know that much about either of them but have grown to appreciate Kurt and what he did for the music industry in his 27 years as I’ve gotten older.  I just bought a book called Heavier Than Heaven, a biography about Kurt, on Amazon.  I can’t wait for it to arrive so that I can better get to know this amazing, beautiful soul and what went on in his head and more about Kurt and Courtney’s relationship.  One thing I will say….Kurt had awesome taste in sunglasses!

I heart those sunglasses

My friend, April, told me it’s Courtney’s birthday today.

Happy Birthday Miss Love
